A very appropriate choice for Kanji of the Year

Yesterday, BigFamJapan mentioned waiting to see what the Kanji of the Year would be. It's something I also look forward to each year, since I think it's often representative of societal trends and such.

This year's choice was kuma (熊), which I think was an excellent one to represent 2025. Bears have been such a hot topic of conversation throughout the last 12 months, and the media coverage about the issue has been really significant as well.

Some years I don't always agree with what they've picked, but for 2025 I think 熊 fits really well.
