Waiting for the kanji of the year

Today, and December 12th annually, is Kanji Day 漢字の日. The date comes from the mnemonic "ii (1) ji (2) ichi (1) ji (2)" which means one good character.

Every year, entries are collected from across the country for a "kanji that represents this year" that symbolizes the state of affairs of the year, and the kanji with the most votes is announced as the "Kanji of the Year" on this day at Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto.

It should be announced this afternoon. Did you submit an entry this year? If you were to submit one, what would it be? And what do you think the kanji of 2025 will be?  The photo shows the kanji of 2024 for Kawagoe city, separate to the national kanji.
