Good habits and bad habits cultivated during life in Japan

I was thinking today about both good and bad habits that I've cultivated during my years here, and I'm sure many of you have similar pros and cons.

I'm much better at recycling since living in Japan, but I've also found myself being rigid with rules in many aspects of life. Image created via Canva.

One of the good habits I've gained is being more aware of others in general. Being mindful of noise levels on the train, making sure I'm not blocking the way on escalators, and things like that are all second nature now. I don't think I was ever inconsiderate, so to speak, but I'm just much more conscious now of how my own actions can impact the overall group.

I'm also much, much more aware of recycling properly. In my home country we had a general waste bin and a recycling bin, but here it's much more sectioned out and specific. I think that's a good thing, though!

As for bad habits, I do think I've become much more used to quiet and order that I struggle when things aren't as quiet or orderly. I've also become a big stickler for the rules (in their myriad capacities) and I get really irritated when I see people flouting them.

What good or bad habits have you picked up here? I'll pop a Q&A up so you can respond there if you'd like!
