Library Coworking: Tuesday

Read about Monday and this series here.

On Tuesday I opted for a more walkable city library - not the closest one as I'll go on Wednesday. There is a remodeled kids space, but the building itself is older and has some charm, like the Egyptian motifs decorating it. (The cramped toilets are not charming.)

The building is actually a “Lifelong Learning Center,” meaning there are classrooms for clubs, like chorus circles and Japanese classes.

The best thing might be the view. There is an area where drinks are allowed and a vending machine in both the hall and in the kids space. I don't drive but it looks like parking is not free at libraries.

Cons about this library would have to be the toilets and the desk space. There are several spots to work at a laptop with an outlet, but there is a kind of storage shelf under the desk that just jabs me in the knees if I scoot my chair in too close. I'm not tall so I think this must be uncomfortable for most people.

In addition, there is a chime maybe for the staff lunch break a couple times, then again before the closing time. This was kind of distracting but not terrible.

It goes to show that when you're going to a library to get some work done, some will be better than others, depending on what you are hoping to get done.

I spent the majority of my day at the laptop area drawing from reference photos for a bit then working on some design stuff.

This library isn't very big but it has a good selection of design books and at the end of my visit I did look through and borrow one.
