The description

This product is the newly released Pon de Alolan Diglett from Misdo. It's priced at 374 yen for dine in, slightly cheaper if you get it to take away.

The good

The Pon de Alolan Diglett is a really fun donut that delivers on both looks and texture, so if you like all things Instagrammable then this will be right up your alley. The mochi dough has that chewy bite, with the chocolate coating and crunchy chocolate pieces adding some texture. The custard cream brings a nice sweetness that works well with the chocolate. The little Diglett-shaped choux pastry is a nice bonus, with whipped cream inside and a burnt caramel-flavored chocolate coating that adds a different taste. The strawberry gummy nose is a cute finishing touch, too.

The not so good

With chocolate, custard cream, whipped cream, caramel-flavored chocolate and a strawberry gummy all packed into one donut, there's quite a lot going on. I think that the sweetness can become a little overwhelming, especially if you prefer simpler donuts or something that pairs well with coffee without dominating the flavor. The different fillings and coatings also make it feel more like a novelty dessert than an everyday donut. Also, as far as donuts go, it's pretty pricey, but I think you're paying a little extra for the Pokémon design. It's a limited time only thing, so if you want to try it be sure to head into your nearest Misdo ASAP!
