The description

This product is a mochi and custard tsukimi pie, and it's a limited time offering available from KFC stores at the moment. It was priced at 320 yen including tax.

The good

Each year around this time, loads of fast food chains come out with their own versions of tsukimi-themed menu items. Most of the time that involves burgers with egg on them (to represent the full moon), but if you're after something sweet rather than savory then this mochi and custard tsukimi pie from KFC is a fun option to try. As is pretty evident from the name, this one consists of mochi and custard wrapped in pastry, and I think it hits the spot. I'm a custard lover, so I always enjoy that as a filling, and the mochi makes it fun and chewy.

The not so good

I give this a point off for the price. I do think 320 yen for a mass produced fast food pie is kinda expensive, especially if you compare it to somewhere like McDonalds where an apple pie is around half the price of this. Even though I thought the flavor of this was great, I wouldn't purchase it again and that's really just a reflection of the price point. Overall, I'd say it's worth trying if you love all things seasonal and you're a fan of the custard/mochi combo. Get in to your nearest KFC store while you can if it sounds appealing to you -- happy eating! :)
