The good
If you're a fan of custard and whipped cream, this is a pretty hard daifuku to resist. It's genuinely large at around 8 centimeters in diameter, so it feels much more substantial than your average convenience store sweet treat. The chewy mochi exterior has a lovely texture, and the combo of the rich custard and smooth whipped cream makes the filling creamy without being overwhelmingly sweet. I also love the autumnal inspiration behind it, with the moon-like shape tying it into tsukimi perfectly. A nice change to all the savory, egg-inspired burgers out there!
The not so good
The biggest downside is that this is a limited-time product, so if you really love it, the window to grab another one is slim. Seasonal sweets have a habit of disappearing just when you've decided they're your new favorite, which is always a tad frustrating! It's also quite a substantial portion for a daifuku, so the richness of the custard and whipped cream may be a little much if you prefer lighter Japanese sweets. The flavor combo is delicious, but there isn't much variation in taste, so those who prefer their daifuku with additional fillings like fruit might find it to be somewhat one-note.
