The description

This product is a Beniharuka Sweet Potato Mille Crepe Cake with Mitarashi, and it's a limited time offering available at Doutor stores. It was priced at 540 yen including tax.

The good

Along with the Mont Blanc mousse with Okinawan purple sweet potato and apples available at Doutor stores right now (I reviewed it a moment ago!), they also have this Beniharuka Sweet Potato Mille Crepe Cake with Mitarashi. If you like the combination of sweet and salty flavors in your desserts of choice, then this option will be right up your alley. Visually I think the crepe layers make it look very eye-catching and aesthetically pleasing, and taste-wise it's great as well. The Beniharuka sweet potato gives off a nice sweetness without it feeling cloying, and the mitarashi glaze adds that hit of saltiness, but not in an overpowering way.

The not so good

If you're expecting a traditional cake, the mille crepe format may be a little disappointing. It's essentially lots of thin crepe layers stacked with filling, so it has a much softer and more delicate texture than a typical slice of cake. The other downside is that it's a seasonal/limited-time offering, meaning there's only a short window to enjoy it. If it turns out to be a favorite, you won't necessarily be able to pop back and grab another one whenever the craving strikes. There's always the chance they might bring it back around this time next year, but that's never a guarantee!
