The description

This product is called the Fragrant Honey Sweet Potato Parfait, and it's a limited time menu item available from St. Marc Cafe stores. It's priced at 750 yen including tax.

The good

This parfait really is a celebration of all things autumn. It's got plenty of texture going on, from Kyushu sweet potato paste and candied Naruto Kintoki sweet potato to salty sweet potato chips, which is nice as it gives the softer elements a bit of a textural crunch. The combo of sweet potato and caramel was also good, with the caramel adding a deeper flavor. I liked that there was a surprise waiting at the bottom, too. Instead of making the entire parfait consist of variations on sweet potato, it finishes with pumpkin pudding, which is another one of those autumn flavors I love.

The not so good

Much like the sweet potato themed chococro, this parfait is very much designed for people who really, really like sweet potato. Between the sweet potato paste, candied sweet potato, chips, caramel, and soft serve, there's a lot of richness packed into one glass. While the salty chips and bitter caramel provide a bit of contrast, I could see the sweetness becoming a little tiring if you weren't sharing it. If you do want maximum sweet potato bang for your buck though, this delivers. Not sure how long it'll be on their menu for, so head in to your nearest St. Marc Cafe store if it sounds like a must-try for you. Happy sweet potato indulging! :)
