The good
It's the time of year for all things sweet potato themed, and Tully's Coffee have hopped on the bandwagon with this Oimo Donut. From a visual perspective I think it looks really fun, with the yellow topping and the purple donut dough (kinda hard to see the purple on the outside in the photo I took, but I promise it's purple on the inside!) According to the Tully's website, the coating for these donuts is made using Beni Haruka sweet potatoes from Kagoshima Prefecture. I really love when big chains like Tully's incorporate regional produce in their goodies, so two thumbs up to them for that.
The not so good
As far as donuts go, this is a very expensive one at 370 yen. If you compare that to the current seasonal sweet potato offerings from Misdo, the most expensive one in that range is only 220 yen. Because of that, I wouldn't be purchasing this again, even given that it was tasty. I just can't justify almost 400 yen again for a donut fix. Overall, I would say if you're at Tully's anyway and you're looking for a seasonal treat, it's fine to try! Just not something I'd be compelled to get again when I know there are cheaper options out there for a sweet potato donut.
