The description

This product is McDonald's version of a tsukimi pie, and it's available for a limited time only. It was priced at 200 yen including tax.

The good

Tsukimi-related items are everywhere right now (more than ever, it seems!) and this tsukimi pie from McDonalds is a pretty budget friendly way to get in on the action. Their version of a tsukimi pie consists of a Hokkaido butter, red bean paste, and mochi filling, and I think the combo of flavors and textures is a real win - there's a bit of sweet, a bit of salty, and a bit of chewy! Also, if you compare this to KFC's tsukimi-themed pie, it's so much more economical, too. Theirs is 320 yen, whereas this one from McDonalds is only 200 yen. Both were tasty, so I think this one wins out just given it's priced a lot better!

The not so good

If you're not big on textures when it comes to your pie fillings, then this one won't be the best option for you. Between the chewy mochi and the tsubu-an bean paste (the chunky rather than the smooth kind), it might be a bit much! Overall though, I think this is a fun and decently priced way to get in on all things tsukimi. I personally thought the flavor combo was nice, and the mochi in particular makes it fun to eat. I'm not 100% sure how long they will be offering this pie for, so if it sounds like a must-try for you I would suggest heading in to your nearest McDonalds store sooner rather than later. Happy eating, and enjoy! :)
