The description
This product is a red bean paste and butter scone sandwich, and you can find it at Starbucks stores across the country. It's priced at 390 yen including tax.
The good
As someone who comes from a country where scones are pretty popular and easy to find, I'm always pleased when I come across them here...especially somewhere quite mainstream like Starbucks! This red bean paste and butter scone sandwich is a nice option if you appreciate Japanese + Western fusion desserts, as it incorporates both in the one treat! There's another scone available at Starbucks right now (the chocolate/matcha one that I reviewed earlier today), and this one is 30 yen cheaper than it, so if you want a good deal on a sweet treat then I feel like this one offers pretty good value.
The not so good
I feel like red bean paste is a bit of a controversial ingredient, and people either love it or hate it, there's not a lot of middle ground! If you're not a red bean paste fan then this won't be the dessert for you, but I don't think you'd be going out of your way to purchase it if that was the case! Overall, I think this is a really nice dessert. The butter and the red bean paste work well together, with the combination of the the salty richness and the earthiness balancing each other out nicely. Keep an eye out for it at your nearest Starbucks store if it sounds like something you'd like to try. Happy eating, and enjoy! :)
