The description

This product is a burnt caramel stick financier, and it's available from Family Mart stores for a limited time. It was priced at 150 yen including tax.

The good

If you like desserts that have a good blend of sweet and salty flavors, this burnt caramel stick financier from Family Mart is well worth trying. I appreciated that it wasn't a massive portion size, and the price is pretty budget friendly at only 150 yen including tax. It also had a really good texture/consistency -- some financiers I've tried here before were a little too crispy for my liking, but this one still had quite a soft and fluffy feel to it. I don't know which is more "normal" for a financier, but I liked this softer variety better.

The not so good

As I mentioned above, this financier had a softer/fluffier feel to it when compared to other financiers that I've tried. If you prefer the crispier style, then I don't know that I would recommend this product to you. Also, in terms of packaging, the financier sits inside a plastic "shell" case inside the outer plastic wrapper. I know they do this to preserve the look of the cake and ensure it doesn't get squashed, but I do wish there was a more environmentally friendly way of doing this. It just seems so wasteful. Based on taste though, I liked this a lot, but I was already a fan of the sweet/salty flavor combo.
