The description

This product is a strawberry shortcake flavored cotton candy, and you can find it at Kaldi Coffee Farm stores at the moment. It was priced at 270 yen including tax.

The good

If your kids are anything like mine, they are still at the age where they think cotton candy is the best thing out there -- and I'm sure I was the same back then, too. This cotton candy from Kaldi comes in a plastic wrapper, but inside it's basically like what you'd expect from a festival cotton candy since it's on a stick. The info on the Kaldi site says that this product is inspired by the flavors of butter, strawberry, and milk (e.g. key cake components), and I do think when you eat it all together you can feel those flavors reflected. I only had a small nibble of this to try, but my kids loved it.

The not so good

I am personally not a big fan of cotton candy -- if I'm craving something sweet I want something that actually has some oomph rather than something that just dissolves ;) Also, I feel like the price of this is fairly expensive at 270 yen, especially knowing that it's mass produced in a factory somewhere. Flavor-wise though, it does quite a good job of replicating what you'd expect from a real strawberry shortcake, so give it a go if it sounds fun to you. I imagine it will only be available a little while longer, so head in to your nearest Kaldi Coffee Farm store while you can. Happy eating!
