Excursion on the OI horse racing

On May 21st, 2019, I went on a full day experience with my classmates from Yokohama National University YCCS program to the Oi horse racing facility located in Shinagawa. The whole day was full of fun and delicious food. Additionally, we spent more than half of the day watching the horse races while we bet on the winners.

The first activity of the day was to go to the Haneda International Airport and checked out were the Horse racing company could put advertisement to increase the amount of foreigners directly from the airport to the facility. After, one hour and a half walking through the airport and checking out possible spots for the advertisement. We went through the Monorail which is directly connected to the station close to the Horse racing facility in Shinagawa.

After we arrived to the station and walked to the gates of the horse racing facility, the rain started to get heavier and since there are not that many indoor places in the area, we run to the building were we watched the races for the whole day. After getting in and seating on our places, the instructors explained how the betting process works since everything was in Japanese, which can be a lit bit tough for foreigner visitors who do not know how to speak Japanese.

Inside of the building, there were many food shops and different type of seats, including VIP seats, regular seats and outdoor space as well. There was also a space where the customers can see the horses before the race and analyze the animal and decide if its fit or not for the race.

After the event finished at 9:30 pm, I decided to take some pictures with my friends since the facility has many illumination attractions, which I highly recommend for those who want to see or visit the Oi horse racing.  During the whole day, I bet around 2000 yen, and got a revenue of 4500 yen, that is like 2500 yen in profits, which is not bad at all for being a beginner. Also, I need to highlight the outstanding service of the staff in the facility, all of the members who work in the Oi horse racing place are very kind and helpful. As a foreigner student, my only recommendation for the Oi horse race place is to add more English services, so when the foreigners come from the Haneda airport as its previewed and wanted, this customers do not have any issue while using the facilities in Oi horse racing.
