The description

Confectioner Oyatusu Company produces Ebi no Sunakku. The wheat-based cracker is made with shrimp powder, including amaebi shrimp powder, and Seto Uchi sea salt.

The good

I'm a big fan of crunchy, savoury snacks, so I gravitated to this item in Oyatsu Company's "wellness series". Ebi no Sunakku is a curly wheat cracker in a 62 gram bag. I found it at a 7-11v convenience store. The snack incorporates shrimp powder, including amaebi shrimp powder. The flavour is enhanced with Seto Uchi sea salt. It's harvested from the Seto Inland Sea. This particular sea salt is known for its high magnesium, potassium, iodine, and calcium content. The snack is crispy, shrimpy, and hits the spot.

The not so good

If you like strong, seafood flavour, Ebi no Sunakku delivers in spades. It's not a bad choice if you crave something crunchy to go with a beer or a soda. It's relatively cheap, too, at only 160 yen for a 62 gram bag. A lot of comparable snacks are lower in volume and priced higher. The package touts the high calcium content. The snack packs 421mg of calcium. It's also got Vitamin D at 3.9μg per bag. The delicious snack delivers about half of the recommended daily intake of each nutrient. The package design also bears and endorsement from Sakana-kun!
