"Netflix and Chill" works when asking a girl out in Japan?

"Netflix and Chill" works when asking a girl out in Japan? photo

■Netflix & Chill Works in Japan?
I haven’t heard this slang until my American friend, Mike told me quite recently. I don’t watch Netflix (it’s getting popular in Japan though), so had no idea what it actually meant.

If you’re American, you must know "Netflix & Chill" is so famous slang and internet meme. Actually, some of my Japanese friends knew well about this phrase.

The meaning is basically to watch Netflix together as a euphemism for sex, either between partners or casually as a booty call. And seems like some guys use this to ask a girl out in a unusual or funny way. Mike asked me if it works in Japan.

He must be just joking. In a relationship, it’s totally OK of course, but asking a girl out by Netflix & Chill is ridiculous. I know he was not seriously asking me, but if in case that maybe you try to use that sort of experisson in Japan, I want to make clear my thoughts.

I don’t like the phrase, Netflix & Chill, because it’s too uncertain about your intension. It’s gonna end up either she has no idea what you’re talking about or she thinks you’re just joking around. She doesn’t get your any feeling for her.

Why don’t you say more directly and clearly?

"I really like you, so I wanna go on a date."

"I wanna hung out with you, because I really wanna know about you more."

"I’m interested in you, because you’re so sexy."

These are the phrases you should use when asking a girl out, rather than vague, foggy expression just like Netflix & Chill. Simple and straightforward, right? She clearly knows your intension no matter where she’s from (unless she doesn’t speak English at all).

If you are man, never beat around the brush!

■No Typical Japanese Girl in Japan

Maybe you’re think at this point,

But, Nobita! Are you sure it’s OK to say directly to Japanese girls? They themselves don’t speak directly, so it must be uncomfortable for them."

I know your point. I can’t completely deny it. Yeah, in general, we don’t get used to use direct expressions or words when it comes to communication. Actually, I think Japanese language itself are quite indirect language , which is influenced by Japanese culture.

But, one thing for sure in my mind.

Girls like a guy who is bold, courageous and confidently talking to them. Japanese girls are not exception. You don’t need to change the way you approach and talk to a girl depending on her nationality or race. I want you to be always the same way and same attitude to any girl in the world.

Over the past few years, I’ve talked with a wide variety of girls from all the world and noticed that each girl is totally different. I know this sounds too obvious, however in reality, so many guys are assuming, for example, Japanese girls are mostly shy and quite subconsciously.

But, that way of thinking is gonna get you into trouble in the future. Because girls really don’t like being stereotyped. Once they know you’re judgemental, immediately they walk away.

A lot of guys are asking me like, “When asking a Japanese girl out, there must be the way to be tailored for Japanese girls, right? Tell me that, Nobita!"

You need to understand either nationality or race doesn’t define personality of the each individual. Even thought culture background is the same, there is no typical Japanese girl in Japan actually, just like in any country.

But, again, I think there is one common thing in all universal. Girls like a guy who is bold, courageous and confidently talking to them. Japanese girls are not exception. So, stop using Netflix & Chill and just be the man. Find Your Love in Japan!!(^o^)

I really LOVE your messages for foreign women and women in general!! Great advice! I found your channel after work one night and interestingly enough I was tired of feeling alone. I was always looking for someone to just share my thoughts and laughs with and start a relationship with. I decided that because I was unhappy about being single, I would finally start to be more proactive in initiating a relationship with a guy I may like. When I saw all of your videos it was like destiny!!! In one of your videos you say "imagine you are at Starbucks" and I almost fainted!! I work at my local Starbucks and at that moment, I knew something great was coming. Thank you so much for creating and posting your videos! Love them =^-^= Sincerely, Selena (NY, 21)
