The description
This is a summer-themed flavours variation on Morinaga’s Choice biscuits, the Choice Coconut (チョイスココナッツ). One box contains 14 biscuits in total, and it is priced at 198 yen, excluding tax.
The good
Morinaga’s Choice biscuits are pretty ubiquitous on supermarket shelves throughout the country, and this summer, there is a limited-edition coconut variation to try out as well. If you like the usual Choice biscuits and coconut is a flavour you appreciate, then you will probably like these as well. They’re a simple, basic biscuit, but sometimes, that is all you want. It’s still the usually buttery Choice biscuit, but the addition of the coconut milk gives it a nice touch without detracting from the texture and flavour that make the usual Choice biscuits enjoyable. I like the portion sizes too, with the overall fourteen biscuits split into seven individually wrapped pairs.
The not so good
I feel a bit bad giving these three stars, because there really is nothing wrong with them. It’s a very solid three stars! It’s just that there are a lot of very similar biscuits available, whether here in Japan or elsewhere - and some of them are probably cheaper! For all my positive feelings about portions, the plastic wrapping that goes into splitting them up also feels a bit wasteful. They’re nice enough if unremarkable, though, and I may end up buying them again. They work well as a small snack with (iced) tea or coffee.
