The best bit about the Custard Flavor Snack Sandwich by Fujipan is the packaging for me! I like how they made a cute face out of the custard. Reportedly it is new packaging, but I don't know when it was released. They have the same cute packaging on the chocolate flavor sandwich too, but I don't know if they have introduced it for their full range of Snack Sandwiches yet. The custard is quite nice; smooth and creamy. It's pleasantly sweet without being too overwhelming. Despite having custard as a filling, this sandwich isn't messy. The sandwiches are sealed shut, so nothing falls out before you bite into it. Even when you do bite into it, because the custard isn't runny it doesn't make a mess.

I am not a fan of dessert sandwiches. I like my sandwiches to be sandwiches and my desserts to be desserts! But the packaging appealed to me and I have been keen to try other Fujipan flavors, out of curiosity, so I bought it. One of the reasons I wanted to try another of Fujipan's sandwiches is because Fujipan isn't that widely available in my area of Saitama Prefecture. Yamazaki Bakery seems to hold most of the market share in this area. It's always nice to try something different from the norm. Despite its shortcomings at just 108 yen at Ozam, and 109 yen at Beisia (when they stock it), it's a cheap option for a light lunch on the go.
