The description
This product is a pack of two soft, sealed, crustless sandwiches filled with 'ogura' sweet red bean paste and smooth, milky whipped cream, by Fujipan.
The good
One of the big appeals of 'snack sandwiches' and these type of ready-to-go plastic wrapped pair of sandwiches, is that the bread is crustless. It is one of the reasons children, in particular, seem to enjoy them. The fluffy white bread is also a draw for children. At 132 kcal per piece, it’s surprisingly light for a dessert‑leaning snack, making it easy to enjoy without feeling weighed down. The price is one of the biggest draws of these types of 'snack' sandwiches. At just 108 yen in Ozam and 109 yen in Beisia (when they stock them) it is one of the cheapest options for a bread-based snack and with two in the pack it hits the hunger spot.
The not so good
Like all of these type of convenient, wrapped sandwiches, they aren't the healthiest option. However, as above, the calorie count isn't too bad on them. And, contrary to common perception, they are made fresh. Hence, they only have a shelf life of about two to three days. Despite having fillings that you would think need to be refrigerated, thanks to food technology, these sandwiches don't need to be refrigerated. However, once the packaging is opened, they need to be consumed quickly and shouldn't be left sitting out. I am not a big fan of red bean paste, so while I am glad I tried the product, I won't be buying it for myself again. But if you do like red bean paste, it might be worth trying - this flavor seems to be one of their more popular ones.
