Adding a bit of color on Summer Nail Day
July 16th annually invites you to add a bit color to your being with some summer nails! As it is Summer Nail Day 夏を色どるネイルの日 in Japan. It is a lighthearted anniversary created by a Tokyo-based company that offers mobile nail services.
The date of the anniversary was chosen because 7/16 can be read "Natsu (7) wo iro (16) doro", which means "coloring summer". But also, because summer is the most popular time for people to get pedicures. The aim of the occasion is to gently challenge the perception that nail care is inconvenient or impractical. The idea is that painting your nails can offer small uplifting moments. The company hopes "Summer Nail Day" will encourage people to add a touch of joy to the season.
The nails in this post are not mine! I took the photo, with permission, on a City-cost trip to Shizuoka during the summer, a few years ago. Sure enough, this City-coster's nails caught my eye enough that I had to get a photo!

Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
