Cool Street Names in Kichijoji
Gallery
One of the things I love about Kichijoji is that even the street names seem to have personality. While many shopping districts in Japan are known simply by their location, Kichijoji's streets have memorable names that make exploring the neighborhood feel a little more entertaining.
Take Sun Road, the busy covered arcade stretching north from the station. Its bright, cheerful name fits the lively atmosphere perfectly. Nearby, Diamond Shopping Arcade (Daiya-gai) sparkles with an equally eye-catching name, while Harmonica Yokocho draws visitors with both its colorful title and its maze of tiny bars and eateries.
Other names sound almost European in style. Brick Street (Renga-dori) evokes images of classic urban streetscapes, while Penny Lane immediately catches the attention of Beatles fans. One of the most unusual names though is Cherry Nade, with "nade" derived from "promenade", giving the street an elegant and slightly retro feel. But Purple Street just teases my mind.

What other fun street names have you noticed in Kichijoji?
