Jagarico Day: Surprisingly not better known

Today, and October 23rd annually, is Jagarico Day じゃがりこの日 in Japan. The commemoration, which is registered with the Japan Anniversary Association, was created by Calbee, the company behind the beloved snack.
Jagarico is made primarily from potatoes and is known for its distinctive crispy texture. Over the years, the snack has been released in a wide variety of flavors, including regional and seasonal editions that encourage fans to try something new.
The date of Jagarico Day was chosen to commemorate the launch of Jagarico on October 23rd, 1995. Since then, the crunchy potato stick snack has become a favorite among people of all ages, including myself, and remains one of Calbee’s most successful products.
While Jagarico is one of Japan's best-loved snacks, Jagarico Day remains a relatively low-key anniversary compared with major snack celebrations such as Pocky Day on November 11th. Even so, it offers fans a chance to appreciate the crispy potato snack that has been a convenience store staple for decades.
