The annual Mother's Conference in Japan
June 7th marks the 71st anniversary of the first ever "Mother's Conference." The first conference was held on June 7th, 1955, in response to the shocking Bikini Atoll Hydrogen Bomb Tests. Mothers in Japan gathered with a shared determination to protect their children's future.
The conference soon grew into a grassroots platform where women - to this day - discuss/ed education, welfare, food safety, gender equality and community well-being. What makes the movement meaningful is its spirit of openness - anyone can participate and every voice matters.
