The description

This product is a packet of Samyang's Cheese Buldak Bokkeum Myeon that combines the brand's famous fiery Korean stir-fried noodles with a rich, cheesy seasoning.

The good

My youngest daughter who loves spicy food as well as noodles was keen to try these Buldak noodles which she claimed are "all over the Internet!" They weren't that expensive (158 yen before tax) in the greater scheme of things, so we picked up these and another flavor in the range. They are quick and easy to cook. There are instructions on the side of the packet in Japanese and you can also find instructions online. You can also find ideas online on alternative ways to cook the noodles. Although my daughter loves spicy food, they were way too hot for her, so she gave them to me. Truthfully, they were also way too hot for me, so the only real positive thing I have to say is that they are nice thick and chewy noodles.

The not so good

As above, the noodles were way too hot for both my daughter and I. So, I passed them to my son, who also eats and enjoys spicy food regularly, and he too found them too hot. So, he passed them to my husband, who too found them too spicy to enjoy. In the 20+ years I've known my husband I have never seen him throw out food - ever - and these noodles went in the bin! Between us we did manage to eat about half a pack before they were thrown out. We may have done something wrong that made them so unpalatable, but we won't be trying them again to find out! If you do like them, another negative of them is that they may not be widely available. I have only ever seen them in Donki. Have you ever tried them before? What did you think of them?
