A Day for Darts

Today, and November 1st annually, is Darts Day ダーツの日 in Japan. It celebrates the sport of darts and the people who enjoy playing it. The commemorative day was established by Dartslive, a company known for organizing darts tournaments and developing electronic dart machines, like the ones pictured above (at Round1).
November 1st, 11/1, was chosen because a standard turn in darts consists of three darts, and the number 111 can be seen as three dart-shaped "1s" lined up together. The aim of Darts Day is to introduce more people to the appeal of darts and to bring together the wider darts community. Special events and online programmes are often held to mark the occasion.
Although often associated with pubs, darts is a surprisingly skilful and strategic sport. Players throw small darts at a circular dartboard from a fixed distance, aiming to score points with accuracy and consistency. Success depends not only on precision but also on concentration, mental strength, and tactical decision-making.
The origins of darts are thought to date back to medieval England, when soldiers began throwing shortened arrows at wooden targets for amusement. Over time, the game evolved into the popular sport enjoyed around the world today.
