The Tsukimi Burger remains one of McDonald's most iconic seasonal menu items, and it is easy to understand why it returns every autumn. The simple combination of a beef patty, bacon, egg, and creamy sauce creates a flavor profile that feels comforting rather than overly complicated. I personally prefer the version with cheese (which you will also find reviewed on City-cost), but this isn't a bad alternative. The sauce on top of the bacon helps alleviate the dryness of the burger. The egg, a perfect poached egg, really adds to the flavor of McDonald's signature beef patties. Until I came to Japan, I had know idea how much egg compliments a beef burger!

Although the Tsukimi Burger is widely loved, it may feel somewhat underwhelming for diners expecting a more distinctive seasonal offering. The ingredients work well together, but the overall flavor is relatively mild and familiar at this stage. That is probably one of the reasons I prefer the version with cheese. Much of the appeal comes from tradition and nostalgia surrounding the annual Tsukimi promotion, which can create high expectations. Those trying it for the first time may wonder what makes it stand out from other burgers featuring similar ingredients. The biggest downfall though is that it is only available a few weeks of the year!
