The description

This item is from the Coco's Restaurant seasonal lunch menu. It is a light appetizer with fresh salmon topped with sweet‑tart orange honey sauce, served with baby leaf greens and diced tomato.

The good

This dish is from the Coco's Restaurant seasonal lunch menu. It is a light appetizer with fresh salmon topped with sweet‑tart orange honey sauce, served with baby leaf greens and diced tomato. It is a surprisingly elegant (for want of a better word) dish for its modest price: 250 yen, before tax. The salmon is fresh and silky and the portions are a good size. The orange honey sauce adds a gentle sweetness. The baby leaf greens are fresh and crunchy and the diced tomato added a nice textural contrast - they were soft and juicy. As a lunch‑only appetizer, it feels like a small treat.

The not so good

From what I can tell, the lunch menu changes through the seasons, so this item may only be available in the summer. It is definitely only available at lunch time, as was stated clearly on the menu. In other words, you can't get it at breakfast time nor dinner time either. The portion is small, but that's to be expected as it is officially only an appetizer. Coupling it with another appetizer could make a nice and more filling lunch. Perhaps, for some people the carpaccio alone is enough for a light lunch though. The greens and diced tomato add freshness, but the overall dish might come across as simple rather than memorable. I would order it again, if I ever end up in Coco's again, which is unlikely as personally I prefer other family restaurant chains.
