The description

This dessert from Coco's Grand Menu is their signature "Cocosh", which is the proprietary name for a Coco's Danish. This is the half portion and comes with cream and ice-cream.

The good

The "Cocosh" is Coco's restaurant's signature Danish dessert - "Cocosh" is a portmanteau of Coco's and Danish. I got the half portion. You can get a full portion too. Both come with ice-cream and picture perfect, swirled whipped cream. They also come with maple sauce separately so that you can pour to your own liking. The Danish is served warm and it is golden, with crisp flaky layers. There is a dusting of powdered sugar which adds a gentle sweetness without overwhelming the pastry's buttery and maple syrup flavors. The ice-cream and whipped cream create a satisfying contrast. Both the ice-cream and whipped cream are delicious. The half portion is ideal if you want something sweet, but not too filling.

The not so good

I am used to cheaper desserts at family restaurants, so I thought 450 yen is a little expensive for such a small dessert. I think the full size is better value for money, although also a little on the expensive side at 690 yen. Both prices are before tax. The pastry itself, though flaky and warm, can feel a bit plain if you prefer desserts with stronger flavors or more complexity. I thought the name was a little misleading, because I was expecting that the "Cocosh" itself was maple flavored, but the maple sauce actually comes separately, and you pour it on yourself. Some people may find that there isn't enough maple syrup provided.
