The description
This Coco's menu item is a visually appealing tomato‑basil pasta that unfortunately didn’t match expectations. Light on mozzarella and unexpectedly spicy.
The good
The Coco's Fresh Basil & Mozzarella Tomato Pasta looked quite different to the photo in the menu that I thought I had accidentally ordered something else. However, my daughter checked for me on our order history and the tablet and I hadn't. So, it just looked different to the photo. Mainly, there was a lot less cheese in the version I received than the one pictured in the menu. The bit of cheese in it though was delicious. The best thing about it is the price. At just 790 yen (before tax), it is an affordable price and for many the size is sufficient for a relatively filling lunch.
The not so good
As above, there was a lot less cheese than expected. But more than that, the presence of a vast amount of red chili peppers was the most disappointing thing. I don't really like spicy food, and I would never have ordered it if I'd realized it was spicy. The chili rings added a lingering burn that made it difficult to appreciate the tomato base. It didn't mention spicy on the menu. I really wasn't enjoying it, so my daughter thankfully swapped her steak burger with me (also reviewed). I personally wouldn't order this dish again.
