Lotte's chocolate filled pretzel; Toppo

If you have a sweet tooth and enjoy Japanese snacks, October 10th is a fun date to mark on the calendar. It is officially recognised as Toppo Day, celebrating Lotte's long-selling chocolate-filled pretzel snack, Toppo.

The choice of October 10th, 10/10, comes from the snack's distinctive shape. Toppo's long cylindrical stick resembles the number "1", and the opening where the filling is open is like a "0". In addition, the date can be read as "Too (10) po (10)", similar to the product name.

Toppo first appeared in 1994 and has remained popular for more than three decades. Unlike many chocolate-coated biscuits, Toppo takes the opposite approach, filling a hollow pretzel stick with chocolate. This unique design inspired the famous slogan that promises chocolate all the way to the end.
