A Day for Eyelashes

Among the many anniversaries, observations and commemorative days of October 10th annually, one that surprised me was Eyelash Design Day まつ毛デザインの日. I think that's because we don't really talk about eyelash "design" in English, so I was curious.

But upon reading more about the anniversary is dedicated to eyelash beauty. Things like eyelash extensions and lash lifts. I don't have experience with either, but I have heard of both. The Japan Eyelash Extension Manufacturers Federation created the anniversary to raise awareness and promote the appeal of such eye-focused beauty services. 

They chose October 10th, 10/10, as the date because the numbers 10 and 10, when placed side by side, can be seen as resembling a pair of eyes, making it a fitting symbol for a day dedicated to eyelash beauty and eye-area care.
