The Friends of Frogs in Japan
There is an association in Japan known as the "Friends of Frogs". It is based out of a museum in my home prefecture of Saitama, in the smallest city in the Prefecture - Warabi City. The museum is the Kawanabe Kyosai Memorial Museum.
The reason I know about the Friends of Frog Association is because they created an anniversary that falls today - Frog Day かえるの日. It is on June 6th annually because 6.6 can be read as "kero kero". That is the onomatopoeic sound associated with frogs in Japan. The association created the anniversary due to their love of frogs.
The hope of the anniversary is that people will appreciate frogs not only as symbols of early summer, but also creatures deeply connected to Japan's wetlands, rice fields and seasonal soundscape. More than just creating a day for frogs, the association also holds festivals and other events such as frog exhibitions. They are, indeed, friends of frogs!

Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
