A shout out to big brothers everywhere!

Today, and June 6th annually, is Big Brother's Day 兄の日 (Ani no Hi). It was an anniversary created by Kunio Hatada, a manga artist and writer who is also known for his research into sibling relationships. He wrote extensively about sibling dynamics in his lifetime (1944 - 1996).

Hatada chose June 6th as the anniversary for Big Brother's Day because it falls almost exactly in the middle of the Gemini period (May 21st to June 21st). Gemini's symbol is a pair of twins - Castor and Pollux - representing an older and younger brother. A symbolic match for celebrating brotherhood. A shout out to my own big brother and all the big brothers everywhere!

There is also a "Younger Brother's Day" annually on March 6th, the aforementioned "Younger Sisters Day" on September 6th, "Good Older Brother Day" on November 23rd and "Older Sister's Day" on December 6th annually. All but "Good Older Brother Day" were created by Kunio Hatada, reflecting his lifelong interest in family relationships.
