As I said in my previous two reviews, I am sharing reviews for some of the non-raw fish options at Kura Sushi for anyone who might be wondering if there is anything they can order at a revolving sushi chain restaurant if they don't eat raw fish. There are actually loads of options - you can even get small bowls of ramen - but I have only tried a handful of options so far myself. This review is for their truly delicious French Fries topped with melted cheese. What I love about these French Fries it the way they are cooked to be crunchy. I think they are probably coated in something first - maybe a light covering of flour. Whatever it is, it really adds to both the texture and flavor. The melted cheese on top is really good and really sets the dish off.

The biggest drawback is the size. It is a generous enough portion for one, but if you are sharing, as we were, it's too small. Between three of us we polished off these delicious cheese fries in seconds! At 280 yen it is more than double the price of a plate of nigiri sushi (two pieces of sushi), so in that way it feels expensive. But in fairness that is a fairly standard price for a plate of French Fries. As a 'Kura Sushi' special, these particular cheese fries are only available at the Kura Sushi chain. But I am sure other revolving sushi chains have something similar on offer. Overall, though, my family and I love these Kura Fries and will be ordering them again - probably every time we go!
