Icho is the spelling they use in English on their website, but in Japanese it is Itchou (Icchou). It is a chain restaurant in the Kanto area. The one nearest to me looks almost like a ryokan, both from the outside and inside. They have a fairly standard menu for the type of restaurant it is. I haven't been very adventurous and have only tried a few things so far on the menu. My favorite, so far, is this Roast Katsu (pork loin cutlet) set that comes with rice, soup, pickles. konjac and grated daikon. Although the photo on the menu shows the daikon on top of the katsu, it is actually served separately in a little bowl. I like that as I can take as much or as little as I want that way. I also like that they serve the sauce in a bowl on the side too. It is a generous portion and you can apparently get free refills of rice and the soup - personally I haven't tried that yet as I find this dish more than sufficient. I even struggle to finish it, due to how filling theh pork loin is.

Like me, some other people may find this set meal difficult to finish. You would want to be proper hungry to order it! That is probably the biggest downfall of this dish. The other drawback is the price. It is not cheap at 1290 yen before tax and 1419 yen after tax. However, considering everything you get and how filling it is, I think it is value for money. It is not something I eat every day, so I think it is worth the yen on the rare occasion I dine in Icho. If you are ever in Icho, I would confidently recommend this dish. Personally, I have had it a few times already and I will order it again.
