The description

This product is a Hokkaido Pumpkin Tart, and it's a limited time offering available from Doutor stores. It was priced at 440 yen including tax.

The good

This Hokkaido Pumpkin Tart is a returning item to Doutor stores, and I think if you appreciate pumpkin flavored sweets (I feel like a lot of expats are fond of them!) then this is a nice option to try out. It's an interesting tart from a textural perspective, with half of the filling being a pudding-like texture with actual pumpkin chunks throughout it, and the other half being a pumpkin-flavored mousse. I think it makes for a nice-looking tart, since the two-toned appearance gives a bit of color contrast. Price-wise, I feel like it's not too bad at 440 yen, or at least it's on par with my expectations for a chain store dessert item.

The not so good

If you're a real stickler for seasonal desserts here, I think having a pumpkin flavored tart as we roll into peak summer seems a bit out of place. To me, pumpkin flavored items are definitely more of an autumn flavor, so it's possible that some people might be mildly irritated by that! Also, if you're not a big fan of textures in your desserts, then you might not appreciate the pumpkin chunks in the pudding textured part of the tart. Keep that in mind if that's the case for you! Overall though, this is a nice opportunity to get your fix of pumpkin-flavored sweets a bit earlier than expected!
