The description
This product is a Hojicha terrine cake, which is a limited time offering at 7-11. It's made under the supervision of tea purveyor Kyuemon Ito and was priced at 248 yen including tax.
The good
If you like very dense, ganache-textured cakes then this is a great option for you. The chocolate terrine cake has that kind of consistency, and you can immediately smell the tea aroma as you open the packaging. The combo of chocolate and hojicha was very inviting, and the cake itself really just melts in your mouth. The product is on the smaller side, but that can be a positive thing -- since it's quite rich and indulgent tasting I don't think you'd really need more than the portion size it comes in to get your chocolate and tea fix.
The not so good
The biggest downside for me with this product was the price to size ratio. I do think that the serving size was adequate as the product is very rich, but I think 248 yen for the size of it felt quite expensive. Maybe it's just inflation, or maybe it's the fact that this is a collab product (which always seem to be priced higher), but the cost would be a deterrent to me purchasing this one again. Other than that, if you like chocolate and enjoy tea-inspired desserts I'd still say to give this one a try!
