Sunscreen scarcity?
I've written before here on City-Cost about my love for Japanese sunscreen. There are loads of great options here, and my appreciation for them stems from the fact that they don't feel like you're applying paste to your skin -- they absorb really nicely, don't feel sticky, and don't leave a white cast (at least, for the ones I use regularly).
It's no great surprise, then, that other people are cottoning on to the excellent sunscreen options here, so much so that some sunscreens here are selling out. The article noted that tourists from abroad are buying sunscreen in multipacks, and men are also getting into the sunscreen realm -- something that in years gone by was probably seen as a female thing.
I haven't yet noticed any issues with obtaining my favorite sunscreen items locally, but I do wonder if anyone in Tokyo or other more touristy areas has had trouble getting theirs at local drug stores and the like.
