The description
This product is a pack of the ever-popular Koala March cookie-chocolate bites in a new Condensed Milk flavor. I found them at my local 7-11 and they were priced at 194 yen including tax.
The good
Before I even start with the flavor of these, I love how they are being marketed. The slogan is that they are bringing winter into summer (since koalas are from my home country, Australia!) and for a country that often thinks itself cool through things like windchimes and certain foods, then I think this is a clever approach. The filling of these is a condensed milk flavored white chocolate, and my kids were fans. I tried a couple of pieces for the sake of this review, and I also liked them a lot -- the sweetness of the choc was a nice pick me up! Price isn't bad either, at under 200 yen including tax.
The not so good
Since these are a limited time only offering, if you find yourself really liking them you only have a short window to get your hands on them. If they sound like something you want to try, I'd recommend having a peek at your nearest convenience store(s) or supermarket(s) to see if they are available near you. Also, the white choc is fairly sweet -- not awfully so, but more so than you'd expect from regular milk chocolate. Just keep that in mind! Overall though, tasty and fun, and as I mentioned I loved the fun marketing element and the ties to my home country. Hope you enjoy these as well if you end up giving them a try -- happy eating! :)
