The description

This product is the Unaju (eel rice bowl) set from Gusto family restaurants, and it's a limited time/summer season offering. It comes with miso soup and pickles as well and was priced at 1539 yen.

The good

Every year in summer, my husband makes a beeline for anywhere selling unagi (eel). Right now at Gusto family restaurants, they have an Unaju (eel rice bowl) set, and it's pretty reasonably priced for what you get! There are several pieces of eel on a bed of rice, and you also get miso soup and pickles for 1539 yen including tax. If you've got a bigger appetite, there's also the option to get a double sized portion of unagi for 1999 yen, and I think either way it's a great deal when you compare it to purchasing and cooking unagi and the sides yourself. An accessible way to get your fix of this summertime fave!

The not so good

My husband would say that the biggest downside with this is that it's not offered year round. This is obviously just a limited time/summer thing at Gusto, so it's probably only going to be on their menu for a few weeks. If getting your unagi fix is on your summer bucket list, then I would recommend heading in to your nearest Gusto store sooner rather than later. Overall, my husband gave this his seal of approval, and would happily repurchase it if we're at a Gusto store again before they stop selling it for the year. Hope it's enjoyable for you, too, if you end up giving it a try. Happy eating! :)
