The description
This product is a Hakata Mentaiko Butter Teriyaki burger, and it's a limited time offering available at McDonalds stores. It's priced at 490 yen on its own.
The good
Let me preface this by stating that this Hakata Mentaiko Butter Teriyaki burger was my husband's choice, and he's definitely a bit more adventurous with food choices than I am. I typically don't like mentaiko very much, but in the interests of this review I had a bite so I could accurately let anyone know my thoughts on it! This burger consists of a Hakata mentaiko butter mayo sauce, cheese, lettuce, and the teriyaki-sauced meat patty, and I feel like if you're wanting to try mentaiko's flavor in a more subdued way, then this is a good way to do that. It was actually pretty balanced, given all the other components that it contains.
The not so good
The lettuce on this was barely any (you can't even see any poking out!) which might appeal to some people, but I feel like it was a bit stingy. Also, I felt like the teriyaki sauce was oozing off the burger way too much, it just looked and felt messy. Is that by virtue of the store, or is it just that the burger itself is too saucy? Hard to say, but it's probably not one that my husband would feel compelled to get again. If you enjoy trying out different burgers that are "only in Japan" options, then this one will be a bit of fun for you, no doubt. If you're not a fan of overly-sauced burgers, though, then I would suggest steering clear of this one.
