Petrol costs to go up?
The situation in the Middle East feels quite precarious at the moment, and although there's the ceasefire that Israel and Iran have agreed to as of this morning (JST), questions still remain about the Strait of Hormuz being blocked from shipping oil to many places around the world.
I saw an article this morning via the Japan Times, which mentioned that around 84% of oil passing through that region heads to Asia, with Japan importing 1.6 million barrels of crude oil through there daily.
Along with fueling our cars, this is likely to make things like plane travel more expensive, so if you're planning trips home to visit family (or even doing some domestic travel) it's probably worth keeping that in mind as a possibility.
Let's hope that things calm down soon, and not just because of oil prices but because of the human factor. People's lives are more important than anything else.
