Culture in Japan is more than just a single day
Today is Culture Day, which for many is a chance to celebrate the arts and cultural achievements. I think it's nice to have a special national holiday to celebrate that, but I think that in many ways, the appreciation of culture is something that's already built into daily life here.

One way I notice it is in the changing of the seasons. The food changes, the decorations in shops shift, and even the packaging on snacks or drinks reflects the season. Local festivals mark different points in the year, each with their own traditions and food stalls that feel unique to that moment.
Design is another part of everyday culture that stands out. There's a real sense of care in how things are arranged or presented (absolutely more so than in my home country!), and in many ways beauty and function often go hand in hand here.
I feel that Culture Day perhaps encourages people to go and check out a museum, art gallery, or something like that, but I love that culture here is always present, even in the smallest details of everyday life.
Are you doing anything special for Culture Day today?
