And so it begins
It's that time of year, already. Today (May 16th), the rainy season was declared in southern Kyushu, which is 14 days earlier than average, and 23 days earlier than last year. It also apparently marks the first time since 1976 that the rainy season began in southern Kyushu earlier than Okinawa, which is an interesting statistic.
I do wonder what that will mean for the rest of the country, and when we'll see the rainy season commence in other regions. Needless to say, it's a good reminder to check things like your dehumidifiers and get some moisture absorbers for enclosed spaces like closets!

One news source says the Kanto area will see an early start to the rainy season. It's expected around June 7th and stretch well into July. I don't mind the rain. It's the humidity. This weekend's chore is maintaining the 除湿機 - the big dehumifier beast.

That is early and I agree that is an interesting statistic about it being the first time in almost 50 years since Kyushu was announced before Okinawa.
