The sparkle of summer fireworks events wearing off for some!

How do you feel about crowded summer fireworks events? A new survey of 15 to 19-year-olds across Japan suggests that a sizeable chunk of young people aren't particularly keen on the experience.

Of those surveyed, 50.1% said they wouldn't want to attend a fireworks display this summer if it meant dealing with crowds, narrowly outweighing the 49.9% who said they'd go anyway.

For those avoiding the crowds, the reasons will probably sound familiar. Many simply said they don't like being around large numbers of people, while others pointed to the physical exhaustion, difficulty moving around, and inability to properly enjoy the fireworks when surrounded by thousands of others.

Then there's the heat. With summers here becoming hotter every year, some respondents said the combo of extreme temperatures and crowds made fireworks feel less like a fun night out and more like an endurance test.

Personally, I can see both sides. After years of Japanese summers, I've definitely thought "never again" for some events, only to find myself wanting to go again the following year.
