Some good news for gyudon-loving expats
I think we've all become accustomed to news of price hikes across the board from groceries to utilities and plenty of stuff in between, so I was pretty pleased to see an article via Japan Times today about the price of something going down! The ever-popular fast-food chain Sukiya has announced it will lower prices on its beef bowls for the first time in over a decade.
Finally...somewhere offering a price reduction rather than a price increase!!
Starting this week, a regular-sized beef bowl will drop to ¥450 from ¥480 including tax. Other sizes are also seeing cuts, with the mini bowl going down to ¥390, the large to ¥650, and the extra-large to ¥850. For anyone keeping a close eye on daily spending, I think those savings do add up quickly.
This also means that Sukiya now has the cheapest regular-sized gyudon among the "big three" chains (Yoshinoya's is ¥498 and Matsuya's is ¥460).
Anyway, I thought it was some good news about costs for a change!
