Eat your veggies today!

Today, August 31st, is Vegetable Day in Japan. The relevance of it falling on this date is because the numbers 8 (ya), 3 (sa), and 1 (i) create the Japanese word "yasai."

We eat quite a lot of veggies in our household, especially during this time of year when some of our lovely neighbors are offloading their excess. Cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and eggplants are a few common ones we get during this season, along with goodies like corn and even watermelon occasionally. Kind neighbors are such a wonderful thing!

We also have a good farmer's market nearby which stocks products at reasonable prices. We do still get stuff from supermarkets too when the need arises, but I like the farmer's market feel.

ToneToEdo wrote a great blog recently about her summer soup packed with various seasonal veggies, which sounds like a delicious option: https://www.city-cost.com/blogs/TonetoEdo/GQpK3-food_chiba
