This new Matcha Chiffon Cake is a delicious option for matcha fans, and I think it does a pretty good job of balancing the trademark earthiness of matcha with the sweetness of whipped cream. Before you even bite into the cake, I think the visual appeal is quite fun -- the vivid green of the cake is super eye catching. The texture of the cake is lovely, too. It's quite light, since it's a chiffon cake, but it has a nice moistness to it and wasn't dry at all. The portion size is pretty decent for the price, especially for a Starbucks cake slice.

If you prefer cakes that have a more dense consistency than a light and fluffy one, then this cake might not be the best pick for you! Also, even with the whipped cream, you can absolutely still taste those notes of earthy matcha. If you're not big on that, then this would be one to avoid as well. Overall though, a tasty, light and fluffy cake for the matcha fans out there.
