The good
Along with the new drinks available from Starbucks for sakura season, they also have this sakura matcha donut on their sweets menu. Before even trying it, I think it has a lot of visual appeal, with the pastel pink icing decorated with the matcha drizzle -- the contrast of colors is really nice! Flavor-wise, I think it's really yummy too if you're a fan of fruity and matcha flavored goodies. The donut dough itself is sakura-infused, and it has a matcha cream filling, and then the sakura chocolate topping + matcha drizzle. I thought everything worked together quite cohesively!
The not so good
If you don't like the earthiness of matcha then you're not going to be a fan of this sweet treat, but if that was the case I really don't think you'd be going out of your way to purchase one of these! Overall though, I think this is a great option for a sweet treat that feels spring-like. It's not badly priced when you compare it to somewhere like Mister Donut, and the flavor pairing is really good. I'm not sure how long it will be available for, so if it sounds like a must-try item for you I would recommend heading in to your nearest Starbucks store sooner rather than later.
